CLMVC Employees

March 1, 2023— The Board of the Culver & Lake Maxinkuckee Visitor Center has appointed Andrea Cancci as the Event Coordinator.

After graduating from the Culver Academies in 2011, Andrea attended Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana studying communications. She then transferred to University of Central Florida in Orlando when she accepted an internship with the Walt Disney Company. After what was to be a visit to New York, Andrea accepted an internship that turned full time job after 2 weeks at Cipriani NYC. From 2015 to 2021 Andrea worked as an in-house producer for Cipriani (including their 42nd Street, Wall Street, Broadway and South Street locations). Andrea attributes her success and event production knowledge to the team of experts she worked with and learned from during her time at Cipriani. During covid, Andrea returned to Culver and immediately began working on events in town, eventually becoming an event coordinator for Sage Meadows Barn. Andrea is currently the president of Lakefest and has been an active member on the Winterfest committee. In March of 2022, Andrea returned to New York briefly as the General Manager for Girls Who Walked on Glass, a play by Gordon Farrell. She is excited to continue to put her skills to work while coordinating future events in Culver that will bring more visitors to our small town.

“Over the past three years, Andrea has had a strong presence in the Culver community in events”, said Amber Cowell, Executive Director. “The board and I are confident her former experience in event planning at the town-wide level will allow the CLMVC’s key events to excel.” The event coordinator is an entirely new position to our organization. The CLMVC’s key events include Winterfest, Lakefest, Culver Paint Out, Adaptive Water Ski Clinic, Fall Fest, and Culver Holiday Weekend. “We are hoping to grow these events with Andrea’s leadership and in the future begin implementing additional key events for the visitors and residents of Culver.”

March 8, 2022— The Board of the Culver & Lake Maxinkuckee Visitor Center has appointed Amber Cowell as the Executive Director.

Amber currently serves as Superintendent of the Culver Park – a position she will continue to hold.  Amber grew up in Culver and has worked and interned with the town of Culver and the Culver Park for over 11 years, where she was instrumental in assisting with Culver’s application to the state to be designated a Stellar town and establishing what is now a robust internship program at the Park that focuses on leadership development. She serves or has served on numerous boards and committees including president of Kiwanis Club of Culver, member of Culver Tri-Kappa and administrator of the Culver Communities Schools and Culver Academies Culver Youth Community Organization. She is also active with the Culver Crossroads Communications and Quality of Place committees and works closely with the Culver Town Council and community organizations – including CLMVC – on many initiatives and events such as planning of the expansion of the Culver bike and pedestrian trails, renovation of the Beach Lodge and Park grounds, and planning and coordinating diverse and inclusive town-wide events and fundraisers. Amber is a consensus builder who is solutions-driven with a long record of community engagement.

“The CLMVC was very fortunate to have had an excellent pool of applicants for the Executive Director position,” said Tracy Fox, Board Chair. “We were all impressed with Amber’s enthusiasm and Culver connections, as well as her vision for strengthening the collaboration between the Park, the CLMVC and other Culver organizations and assets to enhance the Culver experience for visitors and residents alike.”

“I am looking forward to continuing to work with the board and other town leaders on efforts to engage and invite visitors and potential residents to Culver” said Amber Cowell. “My current role as Park Superintendent involves a number of activities that align perfectly with those of the CLMVC; serving in both roles will actually increase efficiencies and lead to stronger consistency in messaging and actions.”
