DIGITAL MARKETING
If your organization has a Facebook account, create a FB event with all relevant event details. If the event has a marketing budget, spend $50+ to “boost” the event. Check out this tutorial if you need help. You can also watch this video tutorial.
Again, if the organization has a Facebook page, consider scheduling regular posts to remind potential patrons of the event. This tutorial will tell you how to schedule posts. Check out this tutorial to find the best days & times to schedule your posts.
Ask a volunteer to write a 500+ word blog post about your event. Use these recommendations for writing, and submit the blog post to CLMVC via email. Photos are always a nice addition, so send along a few photos as well.
Submit your event to CLMVC and Marshall County Tourism to be listed on website events pages.
Consider creating a website or webpage. We recommend Weebly for a user-friendly, free website. Another option is to work with CLMVC to create a webpage within our website; here’s an example.
Send out a Town, Gown, and Lake email. Keep in mind that most people receiving emails do not open email attachments, so include all relevant information in the email body. To join TGL directly, email towngownandlake+subscribe@googlegroups.com or direct questions to Tracy Fox: donandtracyfox@gmail.com.
PRINT MARKETING
CLMVC is a strong supporter of printing with local press. Contact The Pilot Newsgroup for advertising costs & specials. CLMVC supports the notion of purchasing the largest ad space that your marketing budget allows.
Contact CLMVC via email for details regarding ad reduced rates through our ad co-op in The Lakes Magazine. Please note that this is a monthly direct mail publication, so CLMVC needs ad details 5-6 weeks in advance of the publication date.
Draft a press release (see our suggestions for writing a press release here) and email to the following local communication resources:
jfleury@thepilotnews.com
hlong@culver.k12.in.us
jan.garrison@culver.org
wtca@am1050.com
tony@wkvi.com
Photography & Videography: Consider hiring CLMVC to professionally photograph your event or encourage committee members and event attendees to take iPhone photo & video and share. These photos and videos are very helpful for the next year’s event marketing!
Posters & Postcards: The posters and postcards can be taken to Marshall County Tourism, public libraries, coffee shops, restaurants, local retail businesses, doctors’ offices, post offices, and more. Not sure how to design a poster? We have several suggestions:
Given enough notice, Bowen Printing in Plymouth will help design these materials.
Ask a volunteer on your committee to design the posters/cards.
Create a free account online with Canva to easily create professionally designed print materials.
